Clamping chucks for materialographic applications
Clamping chucks, also more generally called clamping devices or clamping tools, are used to securely fix the materialographic sample during the cutting process. Samples which are to be cut are characterized by significant differences in size, shape, and sensitivity. Thus, the cutting machine must offer the possibility to use different clamping chucks. Clamping chucks have the important task of optimally fixing the sample for cutting. This optimal fixation is a function of the sample's characteristics. It is primarily the shape of the sample to be cut which determines the correct clamping chuck. Irregularly shaped samples require specific clamping chucks which securely fix the material in the cutting machine. In analogy to that, specific clamping chucks are also required for round samples. Clamping chucks with a double V-block holder can be used for particularly large and long samples and ensure the workpiece is securely held. As the clamping chucks do not only serve to precisely position the workpiece in the cutting machine but also have an impact on the quality of the cutting process and thus the sample surface, the choice should be made with great care. Clamping chucks also have an influence on the duration of the cutting process, hence they contribute to an economical workflow. Finally, well positioned clamping chucks allow for an optimal coolant supply during the cutting process.
SCAN-DIA Clamping Chucks
A wide variety of different clamping chucks are available for the tried and tested MINICUT 40. All clamping chucks ensure a highly precise cutting process adapted to the respective sample. Using SCAN-DIA Clamping Chucks, irregularly shaped samples can be cut as easily as large and long samples. Round samples can be clamped up to a diameter of 9 mm. Round material can be processed up to a diameter of 26 mm. Moreover, clamping chucks are available for samples up to a maximum diameter of 33 mm and special clamping chucks are available for ceramic plates. In addition to that, mounting plates are available in various sizes. In case it is impossible to fix a sample using the SCAN-DIA Range of Clamping Chucks, SCAN-DIA manufactures special clamping chucks on request.
